Missing women remembered

A memorial service will be held in CRAB Park Monday for the women who have disappeared from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.

The day marks four years since Sandra Gagnon last saw her sister, Janet Henry -- one of 31 women who have gone missing over the years, most of them since 1995.

``I want to show Janet and all the other women that I am thinking of them,'' Gagnon said. ``My way of coping is to bring my sister pretty flowers. I want to give her flowers so she knows she is in my heart.

``And I don't want the story of the missing women to be forgotten because all of these women are important.''

The memorial service is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. at the bench dedicated to the missing women, all of whom were involved in drugs and the sex trade.

CRAB Park, which is also called Portside Park, is located at the northern foot of Main Street
