Families of Pickton's victims to be supported during inquiry report's release

THE CANADIAN PRESSDECEMBER 12, 2012

Families of the victims of serial-killer Robert Pickton have been contacted by B.C. Justice Ministry officials as part of the support the province will provide when a report by the Missing Women Commission of Inquiry is released next week.

The ministry says it acknowledges the report’s release will likely have a “significant impact” on many individuals, and it is therefore providing them contacts of support services.

Family members will be able to review the report before Commissioner Wally Oppal makes public remarks next Monday, and a special room will be available for them to gather.

The report will discuss what factors prevented police from apprehending Pickton while he hunted women in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
